We have been producing steel in the IJmond region since 1924, with an annual output of around 7 million tonnes. The steel we produce is indispensable in our society. It is all around us and is found in all kinds of products that we use every day. Each person uses as much as 1 kilogram of steel every day.

In IJmuiden, we work with over 9,000 people every day to produce that steel. On our 750-hectare site, you will find a complete continuous production process. From the processing of raw materials to the production of hot metal and the transformation into the finished product steel. We control the entire process. This makes us one of a kind. For the production and transport of raw materials and steel, we have our own 80 km road network, our own 100 km railway network, our own gas pipeline and electricity network, and no less than 55 kilometres of conveyor belt.

Our production process is as unique as our location at the North Sea. This location offers us logistical advantages, but also supports our ambition to produce green steel in a clean and pleasant living environment. Because the steel we produce still has an impact on the environment. We are working in phases towards green, clean and circular steel. To achieve this, we are switching to more sustainable energy sources such as green electricity and, in the future, hydrogen. This allows us to produce the green steel that we will continue to need in the future for sustainable construction and sustainable packaging, as well as other applications. Together, we are building that green future.

We are mindful of the environment and therefore work on short-term solutions. With our Roadmap Plus programme, we tackle emissions of dust, heavy metals, odour, noise and PAHs.
