As part of our Roadmap programme, we implemented a wide range of measures to reduce emissions and improve the living environment around our site. These included the dust removal installation at the Pelletising Plant, additional extraction systems at the BOS Plant and Blast Furnaces, and measures to reduce dust dispersion across the site. Compared with 2019, independent measurements show significant improvements in environmental performance in the IJmond region. Emissions of lead, heavy metals and particulate matter have been reduced, while odour levels in nearby residential areas have also declined. These improvements are the result of a combination of measures implemented across multiple installations as part of our Roadmap. In Wijk aan Zee, dust precipitation has decreased compared with 2019 levels. Measures such as the windbreak along the raw materials storage area and improvements to material handling have contributed to reducing the spread of dust. The final major Roadmap project, the DeNOx installation at the Pelletising Plant, is currently being completed. Once operational, it will further reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from the plant. With most Roadmap measures now realised, our focus is increasingly shifting towards the next phase: the transition to Green Steel and the further reduction of our environmental impact.
