Tata Steel Nederland appoints Akash Latchman as Chief Project and Engineering Officer

Experienced leader of major transformations becomes fifth member of the Board of Management of Tata Steel Nederland

On November 18, 2024, Akash Latchman will start at Tata Steel Nederland (TSN) as Chief Project and Engineering Officer (CPEO). In his role as CPEO, Akash Latchman will be responsible for the technical realisation of Tata Steel's Green Steel plan at the IJmuiden site. He will also become a member of TSN's Board of Management.

It is a new position in which he, together with the team that is already working on the preparations of the Green Steel plan both from the Netherlands and India, will lead the transformation of the site in IJmuiden. His extensive experience and knowledge of similar large projects in various places around the world will be of great value to us,” says T.V. In recent years, Akash Latchman worked at the South African chemicals and energy company Sasol, that has a global footprint. He has led several large, complex industrial projects in North America and Africa.  

With the appointment of Akash Latchman, the TSN Board of Management will consist of five members: Hans van den Berg (CEO), Hans Turkesteen (CFO), Tom Eussen (Managing Director Tata Steel IJmuiden) and Gunilla Saltin (Managing Director Tata Steel Downstream Europe).
